Michigan Tech will host the NCAA collegiate cross country ski regionals this weekend, so trail availability will vary. The main trailhead and competition trails (all trails connecting to Core Loop) will be closed to recreational skiing from dawn to approximately 4 pm Saturday and Sunday. Note that, on Friday, the 5-km race loop will have best-line tracks; skaters please respect the tracks.
The Tolkien Trails and dog friendly trails accessible from the ball fields will be groomed and open for recreational use all weekend. All trails from the Nara trailhead to Skidder Loop will be groomed and open for recreational use all weekend.
Lighted night skiing will be as normal, with some changes to track setting. Friday the main trailhead and competition trails will be open to recreational skiing, but will be groomed with best line tracks on the 5 km NCAA course for course preview. This means tracks will cross the skate lane on trails that the race course follows.
Come on out and watch the races! This entry was posted in Events, Nordic Skiing. Bookmark the permalink. ← Ski Tigers Take State Champs; Delong Wins Individual Title Land Trust Hosts Snowshoe Outing at Pilgrim River Watershed →
