Ottawa National Forest North Country Trail Hike June 26

Posted on

The Peter Wolfe Chapter of the North Country Trail (NCT) will host a hike on the NCT on Sunday, June 26th. Mark Roberts will lead a hike of PWC Segment 40, starting at 3 pm (ET) from the NCT crossing on Forest Road 2200 in the Ottawa National Forest near the Sturgeon River Gorge Wilderness.
This will be an easy, mostly flat three-mile hike with a shuttle back to the start. There will be a car pool from the Copper Country Mall (in the corner by the Ford car sales lot; out from the Dunham store) leaving at 1 pm, and will also make a stop at the MDOT parking area just south of L’Anse ShopKo (2 pm). You can also drive to the trailhead yourself (see the Google map – enter your starting point for directions). Please arrive at 2:30 pm if you want to shuttle your car to the end point.

Bring plenty of water, bug protection and a snack. The hike will go on rain or shine. A group will head to dinner afterwards, if you care to go, make sure to bring a change of clothes and shoes if it is hot or raining.
