Paddle Festival Offers Weekend of Events Sept. 9-11, 2016

The Breakers to Bridge Paddle Festival (, a weekend of events centering around paddling in the Keweenaw, will take place September 9-11, 2016. The event kicks off Friday evening with the Sunset Paddle Film Festival at Kestner Park in Houghton (Chutes & Ladders). On Saturday, a 10-mile non-competitive timed paddle from Breakers to Bridge will take place followed by a celebration at Kestner Park in Houghton. On Sunday there will be numerous opportunities for families and individuals to get out on the water through interpretive paddles, clinics, demos and trips throughout the Keweenaw. The event is being planned by the Keweenaw Land Trust in partnership with Michigan Tech’s Outdoor Adventure Program.Registration is now open for all events at Boat rental is available, but must be reserved at time of registration. Space is limited, register today!

The full weekend festival includes:

Friday, September 9th 2016 (Kestner Park)

4:00­ – 8:00 PM: Check in & Bib Pickup
5:00­ – 7:00 PM: Course talks on the hour every hour (15 minutes in length each)
6:00 – ­9:00 PM: Sunset Paddle Film Festival

Saturday, September 10th 2016

7:00 AM­ – 10:00 AM: Check in & Bib Pickup (North Canal Township Park)
10:00 AM­ – 4:00 PM: Breakers To Bridge Paddle Race (North Canal Township Park)
1:00 AM­ – 8:00 PM: Music & Food at the finish area (Kestner Park)
5:00 AM­ – 7:00 PM: Silent Auction (Kestner Park)
7:00 PM: Awards Ceremony and Recognition

Breakers To Bridge is a fundraiser for the Keweenaw Land Trust, a community partner dedicated to protecting land, water and quality of life through conservation, stewardship and education.
