It is a great cross country ski event in a land of great amounts of snow. It is the Great Bear Chase. Registration is open at www.bearchase.org.
New for 2012:
The Copper Country Ski Tigers will host the annual Junior Bear Chase Friday, March 9, 2012, at the Swedetown ski trails in Calumet, MI. This event is open to the public and features Nordic ski races for youth 16 and under. You can download the registration form, which also includes more information on the event. Michigan Tech will host the Central Collegiate Ski Association championships this weekend, Feb. 11-12, meaning the main Tech Trails will be closed on those days (Saturday and Sunday).
The softball field trailhead, along with Isle Royale and Superior loops, will remain open throughout the weekend. The Tolkien trails, accessed from Pilgrim Road, will also remain open. Continue reading →
The Green Film Series, sponsored by a number of local organizations, will show “Addicted to Plastic” on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7 pm in Hesterberg Hall at the MTU forestry building. The film focuses on the worldwide production and environmental effects of plastic. The showing will be followed by dessert, coffee and a facilitated discussion. Continue reading →
