Snow Bike Trail Grooming Planned for Churning Rapids

Posted on

A group of snow bike enthusiasts have announced an agreement to groom six miles of snow bike trails at the Churning Rapids trail system this winter (see a map). The trailhead will be at the M-2013 and Christensen Road intersection, about six miles from Hancock. Trails will be groomed to 30″ wide and accessible for snow bikes, cross country skis, and snowshoes (no walkers). There is no trail pass for this and grooming will be funded through donations via the group’s Facebook page.

You can stay up to date on the trail conditions or to share your photos on the Facebook page, as well (https://www.facebook.com/ChurningRapidsSnowBike)

All donations will be going to the Copper Harbor Trails Club but will only be used for the snow bike trail operations in Churning. The group also urges everyone to buy a pass from KNSC so you can ride all of Churning and Maasto. http://www.keweenawnordic.org/membership-applicationtrail-pass/
