Glide-N-Gorge Slated for March 3, 2013
The 5th annual Glide N Gorge will take place on Sunday, March 3, 2013, from noon until 3pm at the Maasto Hiihto ski trails in Hancock. The 3.5 mile Glide, which will begin at the chalet at the Houghton County Fair Grounds, will guide you through some of the most spectacular scenery our trail system has to offer, with plenty of delicious eats along the way.
The first stop, near Tomasi Drive, is where participants can enjoy tasty appetizers, a toasty warm bonfire and friendly conversations, as they fuel up for the amazing journey along the Swedetown Creek Gorge. As you ski along the river, you will experience its tranquility, taking in the most breathtaking scenes as you listen to the ripple of the creek at your side. To top it off, near the end of the river, bowls upon bowls of soups and chilies with plenty of homemade bread and hot and cold beverages will be awaiting your hungry arrival.
After sampling all of the delicious food and spending some time enjoying the fellowship of others, you will begin your journey back to the chalet. Once you climb up Sisu Hill, it is just a short jaunt back to the chalet where you will be served mouth watering desserts as you enjoy live music. You won’t want to miss out on this incredible afternoon. Bring your friends and family or just come by yourself-you will be amongst friends you may or may not have met!
The suggested donation for this event is $20 if purchased by Friday, March 1. Tickets will be available at the chalet on the day of the event for $30. Tickets can be purchased at Down Wind Sports in Houghton and Cross Country Sports in Calumet or from any KNSC board member.
