Green Film Series Continues March 19: DamNation

Posted on

The March showing for the 2015 Green Film Series is DamNation, to be shown on Thursday, March 19 ay 7 pm in Hesterberg Hall at the Michigan Tech forestry Building. DamNation examines the changes in national attitude from pride in big dams as engineering wonders to growing awareness that our future is bound to the health of our rivers. Where obsolete dams come down, rivers bound to life, giving wild fish access to their primeval spawning grounds. DamNation’s majestic cinematography and unexpected discoveries move through rivers and landscapes altered by dams, but also through a metamorphosis in values, from conquest of the natural world to accepting ourselves as part of nature.

Joe Wagenbrenner, Assistant Professor at the Michigan Tech School of Forest Resources & Environmental Science will lead a discussion after the film. The event is free and open to the public. Delicious snacks and refreshments will be provided by the Keweenaw Land Trust.
