Ride of Silence

August 24, 2016

Bike Initiative Keweenaw and local law enforcement will host a Ride of Silence in the Houghton/Hancock area on August 24, 2016. The ride will start at 6 pm (arrive by 5:45 pm) near the Ramada Inn, in the shadow of the lift bridge on the Hancock waterfront, then progress on US-41 to Chassell and back at a pace of 10-12 mph and with a police escort. Bring a helmet and water. Please contact Bike Initiative Keweenaw with any questions.

This will be one of several Ride of Silence events taking place that day around the U.P. The event is being held to honor people who have been injured or killed while biking, particularly in several recent tragic events in Michigan this year, and to raise awareness on all of the users that share the road.

Date & Time: Wednesday, August 24th, 6:00pm (please arrive by 5:45)
Place: Hancock, under the Lift Bridge (near the Ramada)
Distance: 19 miles, 10-12 mph pace
