Benefit Run Saturday (Dec. 31) – Detailed Info
Response to this benefit for Amy Roberts has been incredible and
we anticipate a wonderful event! Some of the details for Saturday’s Run Like the Finn 5k run/walk, raffle, and silent auction have changed since the last announcement.
1) Because we are now expecting much more participation than originally anticipated, the location of registration, has been moved to the Irish Times Restaurant on Hecla Street in Laurium. That should be your first stop. The start of the run/walk is on Kearsarge St.between 3rd and 4th. Registration still starts at 10:00 am and the run/walk still starts at 11:00.
2) Parking is likely to be difficult, and we do not want to crowd
the race course with parked cars, so please find on-street parking
north of Hecla St. and avoid parking south of Hecla. Consider
carpooling and arriving early so you can walk a few blocks to
registration.
3) To help promote safe outdoor running we are giving
reflective running vests to run/walk participants, but THERE ARE A
LIMITED NUMBER. Vests will be given out on a first-come-first-serve
basis. If you already have your own vest please consider refusing the
giveaway andsaving it for another participant.
4) Bathrooms will be very scarce, so go before you leave the house 🙂
5) Dress appropriately for cold-weather running. There may be snow on the roads, it may be windy, it may be cold and wet.
6) There is a $15 minimum donation to do the run/walk, but consider bringing extra $ to purchase raffle tickets and/or participate in the silent auction. You will also have the opportunity to purchase tickets for the pancake breakfast fundraiser and t-shirts to support the same cause.
