Chassell Classic Trail

As the name states, the Chassell Classic Ski Trail is groomed for classic skiing only, providing 10 kilometers of an intimate trail mainly through wooded terrain.

The trail includes two 5km loops with trailheads at the old Chassell school (one block north of US-41 on Second Street in Chassell) and on Archambeau Road (between US-41 and Paradise Road on the Chassell-Painesdale Road).

The Chassell Classic Ski Trail is the result of Jim Tervo’s vision to have a perfect classic skiing experience. He began in 1981 with a snowmobile, a pallet, and a track setter along with 4 km of trail that started and ended through the Chassell Cemetery. The trail and grooming equipment have evolved greatly since then.

Of the trail’s two loops, the upper 5km is typically skiable on the first snow of the season, given regular mowing and clearing during the summer.

Season passes are available through the Michigan Tech Central Ticket Office, and there are donation pipes at the trailheads.
