Renewable Energy Leader to Speak Dec. 11
This month’s speaker in the 2014 Green Lecture Series, sponsored by the Keweenaw Land Trust, is Rich VanderVeen, founder and president of Mackinaw Power, and a renewable energy leader in Michigan. The lecture takes place Thursday, Dec. 11, from 7-8:30 pm at the Michigan Tech Forestry Building’s Hesterberg Hall.
VanderVeen is a leader in bringing communities, citizens, manufacturers, and utilities together to provide renewable energy in Michigan. He developed the Great Lakes’ first privately financed wind power project in Mackinaw City in 2001 and the largest wind turbine installation in Michigan north of Lansing, in addition to several other successful wind and solar energy projects. Rich has played an integral role in the development of renewable energy in Michigan and we are privileged to have him speak about expanding renewable energy use in the Copper Country.
Light refreshments will be served – donations are appreciated!
