Tech Trails Closures During Nordic Nationals

Posted on

With Michigan Tech hosting the U.S. Cross Country Championships January 4-10, 2015, there will be trail closures on most days and grooming will concentrate on the race courses. Recreational skiers are advised to ski at one of the other area trails during this week to avoid frustration at encountering fenced-off courses and closed trailheads.

Throughout the week, the trailhead at the Michigan Tech softball fields and the Nara trailhead will be open, although some trails will be closed. Superior and Isle Royale loops, accessed via the softball fields, will be groomed for skate and classic and open throughout the week. Read on for a day-to-day summary of race information and trail closures.

Race days are January 4, 5, 8, and 10. On race days, the main trailhead will be closed and parking will not be available. Spectators should park across Sharon Ave. in the Michigan Tech lot or at Tech’s ATDC building. There are also official training days on January 3, 7, and 9. Race courses will be fenced on those days. For those familiar with the Tech Trails, it may be helpful to see the race course maps.
