Ed Harjala Passes at 91

Ed Harjala, local silent sports legend, passed away February 28, just a week before his 92nd birthday. He was a fixture at the Swedetown Trails, as a skiier and as a volunteer. Peter Vorhes penned a tribute to Ed on SkinnySki.com and Lake Superior Magazine did a nice article on him a couple of years ago. Skiers, take a moment the next time you are at the top of “Ed’s You Are Here Hill” at the Swedetown Trails, to remember and say thanks to Ed Harjala.
