Retro Ski Fest Sunday, Feb. 2
Join the Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club and Keweenaw Land Trust (KLT) at Churning Rapids for some old time skiing. On the afternoon of Sunday February 2, 2014, between noon and 3 pm skiers will gather at the Triangle, the touch point of Trails #4 & #10 (see trail map) for the Retro Ski Fest, featuring backcountry skiing on Churning Rapids in Hancock. Registration Open for Great Bear Chase Snow Bike Race
Registration is open for the third annual Great Bear Chase Snow Bike Race, March 9, 2014, at the Swedetown Trails. The 10km and 25km races will use the Great Bear Chase course from the day before. The 25 km race starts at 10 a.m., and the 10 km race starting at 10:10 a.m. The fee for either event is $35 if you register in advance, or $45 by registering the day of. The race is only open to full-fledged snow bikes with a minimum tire width of 3.7”, and all riders are required to wear helmets. For details, go to http://www.greatbearchase.com/snowbike/

Winter Ronde Fat Bike Race Feb. 1 @ Tech Trails
The MTU Winter Ronde fat bike race is Feb. 1. Registrations postmarked by Jan. 20 are $25; $35 after that. The Michigan Tech Nordic Ski Team sponsors the 15km event on the Michigan Tech ski trails. This is your one chance to experience all of the ups and downs of the Tech’s lower trail system in all of their lung-burning glory. Weather and conditions permitting, sections of singletrack will be included in the event. All proceeds benefit the Michigan Tech Men’s and Women’s Nordic Ski Teams. Annual Barnelopet Kids Event February 9
The Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club will hold the annual Barnelopet, a children’s ski event, on Sunday, February 9th, 2014, at the Maasto Hiihto ski trail.
