Swedetown Winter Trails Day Features Free Trail Use and Rentals

Swedetown Winter Trails Day  is Sunday, January 14 from noon to 5 p.m. The event features free all-day passes for skiing or snowshoeing. In addition, Cross Country Sports will have free snowshoe and ski rentals from noon – 4:30 pm at the Swedetown chalet (first come, first served). Also at the chalet, free hot chocolate and apple juice from noon to 5 p.m.

The new snowmobile groomer will be on display, as will the large Prinoth Husky groomer. Get a close look at this nine-foot tall wonder!

Swedetown Trails Club members will be on hand to suggest ski or snowshoe routes for anyone new to Swedetown.

Keweenaw Ski Trails in Excellent Shape

The ski season in the Keweenaw is in full swing. Snowfall totals for the season are north of 160″, Swedetown reports a base of 40″ and Michigan Tech isn’t far behind with almost three feet.  All trails are grooming daily and report excellent conditions.

Candle Luminary Ski & Chili Cook-off – Dec. 26, 2017

Join the Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club on the evening of Tuesday December 26 for the annual Candle Luminary Ski, starting from Hancock’s Four Seasons Chalet by the county fairgrounds at 6 pm. Enjoy a  candle lit evening to celebrate the holidays with family and friends on the Maasto Hiihto ski trails. And, check out our new addition this year – the first annual Chili Cook-off! 2018 Ski Tigers Registration Open

Registration is open for participation in the 2018 Copper Country Ski Tigers. Ski Tigers provides young skiers (ages 5-18) with cross-country skiing instruction, fun on the snow, and companionship. Everyone from first-time skiers to high school racers receives individual and age-appropriate instruction. Ski Tigers emphasizes families skiing together and having fun. Registration is open now through December 31.
