The Keweenaw Land Trust is sponsoring a mountain bike outing at Churning Rapids, led by Terry Kinzel and Sue Ellen Kingsley. Meet at 2:00 at the Christiansen Trail Head, along Christiansen Road off M203 in Hancock Township (approximately 7 miles from the US41/M203 intersection in Hancock). Pedicabs: A Weight Loss Strategy?
Keweenaw cyclists can climb Quincy Hill or the hill on Lakeshore Drive from Calumet Waterworks to M-203. That’s a great workout. But how about carting around a couple of people on a bike that weighs 150 pounds? Kind of a cool article in the Washington Post about pedicab drivers in D.C.

Portage Lake Bridge Walk September 5
Can’t make the Mackinaw Bridge Labor Day Bridge Walk this year? No worries, we have a GREAT Bridge Walk right here in the Keweenaw!
Please join us for the 8th Annual Labor Day Bridge Walk on Monday, September 5. Registration begins at the Kestner Waterfront Park in Houghton at 8:30 a.m. The walk begins at 9 a.m. with a course distance of approximately five miles.

Mountain Bike the Tech Trails – Ronde Coming
Ride the excellent single track at the Tech Trails on Sunday, August 28, 2011, in the second annual MTU MTB Rondevous. Choose either 11 miles or 22 miles.
The event starts at high noon at the trailhead/stadium on Sharon Avenue. The $25 entry fee will benefit the Michigan Tech men’s and women’s cross country and Nordic ski teams. Download a registration form for complete information.
