Michigan Tech Hosts U.S. Nordic Championships Starting Jan. 4

blue-band-logoMichigan Tech will host the U.S. Cross Country Championships starting January 4, 2015, at the Michigan Tech Trails. The event features the top skiers in the country and four different races during the week. The races kick off on Sunday, January 4, with the individual start freestyle (10km and 15km distances) at 10 am. Other race days are January 5 (classic sprint), January 8 (classic mass start), and January 10 (freestyle sprint). All are open to the public free of charge. KNSC Announces New Blog, Chalet Opening

The Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club (KNSC) announces the opening of the Four Seasons Chalet for the 2014-15 winter season. The chalet, located adjacent to the Hancock Driving Park at the top of Birch Street, is now open mid-morning to dark. The club has also launched a blog at  http://keweenawnordicskiclub.blogspot.com/  with trail reports, events and other club news.

Racing at Tech Trails Dec 20-21

Michigan Tech will host the Midwest/Great Lakes Junior National Qualifying Race on December 20-21. Only the following trails will be open to the public for skiing on December 20-21: Isle Royale, Superior and Nara Loops along with the Tolkien Trails. Thanks for your cooperation.

Luminary Ski/Snowshoe at Maasto Hiihto December 27, 2014

The Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club will again hold its Holiday Candle Luminary Ski. This year it will be on Saturday December 27th from 6 to 8 pm. Start and finish is at the Hancock Chalet at the Houghton County Fairgrounds. There will be 1 K and 2K routes with a hot drinks and goodies in the Chalet after and a fire nearby. Free (yes, FREE). Donations appreciated. Families encouraged to bring kids of all ages. Bring your holiday guests and ski off those extra holiday calories.
