Nordic Ski Swap, Ski Tiger Reg November 8
The Copper Country Ski Tigers will hold the semi-annual Nordic ski swap Saturday, November 8, 2014, at the Nara Chalet in Houghton. The sale is 2-4 pm. Registration for the Ski Tigers 2015 winter season (new and returning skiers ages 5-17) will take place at the same time.
Those with items to sell should drop them off at the Nara Chalet between 12:45 and 1:45 pm, and plan to pick up unsold items at 4 pm. This is great way to buy or sell used equipment and clothing for the ski season. A 15% commission will be charged on all items with a maximum of $50 per item. All sales are final. October 9 Public Meeting on Hancock Bike and Pedestrian Plan
The Hancock Bike and Pedestrian Committee and city officials will host a public meeting Thursday, Oct. 9, for comments and suggestions on making Hancock safer and more convenient for non-motorized transportation and transit use. The meeting will take place from 5-7 pm at the First United Methodist Church, 401 Quincy Street (next to city hall). Following a brief presentation, members of the public may offer suggestions on how to make Hancock safer and more convenient for walking, cycling and transit use by people of all ages and abilities.
Maps and plans of existing infrastructure, and proposals for new walking and biking routes will be available for viewing, and forum hosts will answer questions and take verbal and written comments. Hancock residents and people who commute to the city may also comment via an on-line survey accessed from a link at the city web site, www.cityofhancock.com.
Swedetown Chalet Open Daily
The Swedetown Chalet lower level is open 7 days a week during daylight hours (currently 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.) for access to drinking water, restrooms and changing room. Handout maps are available.
