Run the Keweenaw, “Festival of Trail Running,” July 13-14
Three scenic trail races to challenge the toughest runners
Run the Keweenaw, billed as a “festival of trail running,” will draw some 250 participants to the rugged Keweenaw Peninsula this weekend. The festival, based in Eagle Harbor and Copper Harbor July 13-14, features three races on some of the most challenging and scenic single-track trails in the Midwest.
Proceeds from the two-day, three-race event support local trail development and maintenance through Keweenaw Trail Alliance and youth cross-country skiing through Copper Country Ski Tigers. Continue reading →
Canal Run Slated for July 20
The 38th Annual Canal Run is set for Saturday, July 20. This year, organizers have added half-marathon, in addition to the 10- and 5-mile runs and the 10- and 5-mile walks. Entry fees will increase June 19, so visit the web site today for details and to register. Continue reading →
Breakers to Bay 5-Mile Run/Walk June 1, 2013
The Breakers to Bay five-mile run/walk is scheduled for Saturday, June 1, 2013, taking participants from the Houghton Breakers through picturesque Stanton Township landscapes, and ending at the KennerDome in the heart of Oskar Bay. 2013 Bike to Work Day May 16
Keweenaw Bike to Work Day 2013 is scheduled for Thursday, May 16. The event promotes physical health and environmental responsibility by encouraging people to commute to work by bike versus car. Not an avid biker? Event organizers will have stations set up in many communities (Houghton, Hancock, Calumet, and Lake Linden) with bike repair materials and light refreshments.
