The Portage Sisu Shuffle Show Goes On April 27
The annual Portage Health Sisu Shuffle will take place — rain, shine, or snow — will demonstrate sisu itself and take place April 27, no matter what. The event provides a community-oriented, free, non-competitive 5K walk, job, run, trot, or shuffle. After the shuffle, there will be prizes for all participants, including a drawing for six bikes. On-site registration starts at 10:30 am, with the event kicking off at 11 am, all at the Portage Health campus. Details at portagehealth.org/sisushuffle.
Grooming Ends at Swedetown
The Swedetown Trails Club has announced that grooming has ended for the season, citing rain and warm temps in the forecast. The club’s announcement says, “We deem this the end to a memorable season with plenty of great snow and great trail conditions. The lower chalet area with wax bench and restrooms will no longer be open daily after today.
“What an unusual season! We thank the groomers for their skillful work and thank all the winter volunteers. Hope everyone enjoyed getting out for some of our late season sunny days and we thank you all for your support of the trails.”

Hungarian Falls Dam Jam: Saturday, April 13
On Saturday, April 13th, the Keweenaw Land Trust will host the Hungarian Falls Dam Jam at Brownstone Hall in Atlantic Mine. The event will raise money to purchase and protect the uppermost Hungarian Falls. This fun-filled event will feature local musicians Outwash Plain, The Barnstormers, Keweenaw Brew Grass, Melissa Davis and Matt Bradley, Trouble on the Stairs (formerly Heaven and Lucas), and Jonathon Soper.
