Tech Trails Closed Saturday; Partially Closed Sunday
Michigan Tech will host the Central Collegiate Ski Association championships this weekend, Feb. 11-12, meaning the main Tech Trails will be closed on those days (Saturday and Sunday).
The softball field trailhead, along with Isle Royale and Superior loops, will remain open throughout the weekend. The Tolkien trails, accessed from Pilgrim Road, will also remain open. Continue reading →

“Addicted to Plastic” Film February 16
The Green Film Series, sponsored by a number of local organizations, will show “Addicted to Plastic” on Thursday, Feb. 16, at 7 pm in Hesterberg Hall at the MTU forestry building. The film focuses on the worldwide production and environmental effects of plastic. The showing will be followed by dessert, coffee and a facilitated discussion. Continue reading →

Retro Ski Fest February 25 at Churning Rapids
Join the Keweenaw Nordic Ski Club (KNSC) and Keweenaw Land Trust (KLT) at Churning Rapids for some old-time skiing. On the afternoon of Saturday February 25th between noon and 3 pm, skiers will gather near the Lookout Landing Observation Tower along the #10 Thoroughfare Trail (see the Churning Rapids trail map). Barnelopet Sunday, Feb. 12, at Maasto Hiihto
The fifth annual Barnelopet, a noncompetitive ski event for those ages 3-17, will take place Sunday, February 12, at the Maasto Hiihto ski trails in Hancock. Registration opens at 1 pm at the chalet north of the Houghton Country Arena on Birch Street in Hancock. Continue reading →
